How to choose the right gear for Starcraft 2

Both SC2 and Brood war are games that require a very fast and accurate hand speed with both the keyboard and mouse. Let’s go over the most important factors to think about when choosing which gear setup to use for playing Starcraft.

Keyboards:
When it comes to Starcraft gaming gear, the Keyboard is the first thing that comes to mind in terms of importance. The keyboard is probably the most crucial part of a Starcraft player’s setup due to the fact that hotkeys and control groups are extremely important at the highest level of competitive play. Mechanical Keyboards are by far the most popular type of keyboards being used among both Professionals and Amateurs alike. Mechanical keyboards typically last longer and wear out much slower than Membrane/Rubber Dome Keyboards. Not only that, but they are heavier than other types of keyboards so they won’t move around a lot while gaming hard. These keyboards are also very customizable and they allow you to change between various types of switches which can be opotimized for different things.

Mouse:
Having a good mouse is the second most important part of the setup. It doesn’t matter what you’re using as long as it’s Accurate and it feels comfortable for your own hand. The Razer Deathadder and Logitech G9x have been tried and true favorites of many professional Starcraft 2 players since the game’s release. There are many top players who swear by these products and will not use anything else. If you have medium to large sized hands the Deathadder may be a good mouse to start with. For those with smaller sized hands the G9x or CM Storm Spawn are both very good choices.
